Defense minister directs army to probe charges

Amidst some serious allegations on the army, Defense Minister A.K. Antony has directed Chief of the Army Staff General J.J. Singh to look into the matter on an urgent basis with utmost attention.

The allegations are categorized as sale of weapons and misbehavior with women officers. Rumors are that few of the Indian armed personnel are selling their weapons and equipments for baits of money in Rajasthan, which is quite a serious matter and needs utmost attention. The weapons could easily get into the hands of miscreants and anti-national forces, looking for a slightest of slight chances to disrupt peace in the country. Sale of army weapons is a deplorable offence, as we look forward to our armed forces to protect the nation and if they indulge in such heinous activities, who will save the country?

Another reason of concern in the army circles is the ill treatment of women officers, who are sometimes harassed, paid low, physically assaulted, molested and misbehaved with. In Leh, a woman officer Captain Neha Rawat accused senior commander, Major General A.K. Lal for misbehaving. Such a dastardly treatment has already forced many young women armed personnel to end their lives and recent events are a grim reminder of the same.

A probe has been ordered into the incidents and A. K. Antony has taken the matter with great seriousness. Such matters are indeed serious and can easily take away sleep from common man’s eyes for the feeling that he is not secure, as the army is busy prancing. But, the story doesn’t end here. Lower ranks in the army in the country are lowly paid, with families near starvation, so taking care of their familial needs, few are taken aback to indulge in heinous crimes and suicide sometimes. It is India’s duty give a secure place to its military personnel, only then we can expect them to do their duty for the country.
